Reports to: Head of Tax Reporting & Compliance

This newly created role reports to the Head of Tax Reporting and Compliance. The role is primarily focused on US tax reporting and compliance, but will also assist in other areas including planning, forecasting, and international tax reporting and compliance. This role will work closely with outside compliance providers and collaborate across the organization to meet deadlines while continuously enhancing the tax control environment. The organization is complex and rapidly growing, so organizational, prioritization, and communication skills are critical.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Review US GAAP income tax provisions for US subsidiaries in accordance with ASC 740, including deferred tax validations, return to provision entries and tax footnote disclosures during the quarter and year-end close process. Coordinate with auditors on audits of US subsidiaries.
  • Assist with US GAAP income tax provision reviews of non-US subsidiaries in accordance with ASC 740.
  • Perform quarterly analysis of the global effective tax rate and communicate the key rate drivers to the Group CFO, Group Finance Director, and Head of Group Tax.
  • Assist with quarterly valuation allowance analysis in accordance with ASC 740.
  • Coordinate and review US statutory tax provisions and disclosures for quarterly and annual filing requirements.
  • Oversee Pillar II and Country by Country reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee PFIC and earnings and profits calculations prepared by external advisors.
  • Review US corporate tax filings and US estimated payments for US entities’ federal and state income tax returns.
  • Interact with Group Financial Planning & Analysis to ensure inclusion of appropriate tax rates in forecasts and provide analysis of plan to actual variances.
  • Work with external service providers as necessary to identify opportunities to automate data flow and implement process efficiencies in respect of tax reporting.
  • Assist with income tax analysis of transactional activity, including acquisitions.

Skills and qualifications Required:

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience as an insurance tax professional with depth of knowledge in US GAAP reporting and compliance requirements, in either a global organization or a larger tax consulting firm supporting global organizations.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft software packages (Excel, Word & PowerPoint).
  • Ability to articulate complex issues and themes to all levels of the organization, with a strong communication skillset.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Willingness to be hands on driving execution and change where needed.
  • Ability to work and drive results independently.
