US Insurance Compliance Specialist

Overview:
The Insurance Compliance Specialist ensures that Accelerant and Members of the Accelerant Group comply with state governance, reporting standards, regulations, laws, and legal regulatory standards, procedures, and policies. This individual will assist with regulatory risk management reporting required by state departments of insurance and ensure that business practices and new Member programs conform with insurance statutory and regulatory obligations. The ideal candidate is responsible for ensuring business practices and programs adhere to Accelerant’s compliance reporting requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that Accelerant US entities implement and adhere to corporate governance standards.
- Monitor applicable statutes, rules and regulations and provide guidance to Accelerant’s member(s) on required changes to functions such as reporting requirements and claims practices.
- Responsible for ensuring Accelerant and its Members have access to state DMV, RMV, DHSMV reporting and Federal DOT reporting platforms.
- Assist with business projects as needed, including new product development, policy and procedure development, implementation, and special projects.
- Participate in members (MGAs, MGUs, and program administrators) reviews including but not limited to collaborating with team members to review rates, forms, and underwriting guidelines, as well as document compliance or deficiencies.
- Assist with filing and research on US required regulatory data submissions.
- Other general compliance duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- At least 5 years relevant regulatory compliance experience in the property and casualty insurance industry. Specific experience in commercial auto desirable but not required.
- Knowledge of state DMV reporting requirements is preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Ability to take initiative and work under minimal supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a timely manner under strict deadlines.
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to work independently and with a team.
- Excel in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
- Excellent PC skills including Excel, Word, Access, internet, research, and strong database management skills.
- Special consideration will be given to candidates that have SQL experience.
