In today’s spotlight, meet Ben Fowler, a Trainee Solicitor in our Legal department. Ben supports our senior team of lawyers in advising our business colleagues and is based in Glasgow, Scotland.
To start on a fun note, here are some of Ben’s favorite things:
- Favorite sports team: The Rangers Football Club
- Something on his bucket list: I like to travel as much as I can; a tour of South America at some point is high on my list!
- A staple in his morning routine: Wordle
- Preferred way to stay active: “I enjoy long hikes, and there are plenty of hills to climb in Scotland! Last year I climbed Ben Nevis, Scotland and Great Britain’s highest mountain.”
- The most adventurous thing he has ever done: Bungee jumping!
What is a standout memory you have with the Accelerant team?
I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to visit Savannah, Georgia, in the US with the Legal department for our departmental offsite. We got to participate in different activities and meetings as a collective. Since our team is a mix of UK and US colleagues, it’s great when we can come together in person, something we don’t always get the chance to do due to our geographic locations.
What motivates you to come to work every day?
I think that Accelerant empowers our workforce through its remote working culture, allowing us to make choices that are right for us personally when it comes to work-life balance. For me, this is a big part of my motivation to work.
How do you foster teamwork and collaboration on your team?
Clear and concise communication is a key driver, particularly in a Legal context. The quicker everyone can get on the same page, the better for productivity and collaboration.
What is your favorite company or team tradition at Accelerant?
Our All-Hands conferences are a great way to meet other members of the wider Accelerant team that you may not have had the chance to interact with yet, or who have only recently joined. I am looking forward to attending this year’s UK/EU event in London once again!
