About the job

Accelerant is building a new platform that will serve as the backbone of how risk is exchanged in the future. The Product & Technology (P&T) organization is looking for an IAM Engineer who is passionate about securing systems, ensuring compliance, collaborating across teams, and educating others on security best practices. As an IAM engineer, you will play a crucial role in managing and enhancing Identity and Access Management processes, working closely with various teams to ensure secure, efficient, and compliant access to the systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of authentication protocols, role-based access control, and experience in structuring and driving implementation of reliable user access across the organization's systems.

If you join our team, these are some of the things you'll be doing:

  • Configure and maintain authentication mechanisms, ensuring secure and reliable user access across organization's systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and implement new roles within the IAM framework, ensuring they align with business needs and security requirements.
  • Work closely with the engineering teams to implement IAM requirements properly into their products.
  • Continuously assess and enhance existing access controls to improve security, efficiency, and user experience.
  • Monitor and manage access permissions and group memberships to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define regular access review campaigns to ensure that user access rights are up-to-date and compliant with organizational policies.
  • Oversee the process for timely and secure on-boarding and off-boarding of internal employee access within the P&T organization.
  • Provide support to employees regarding access issues, helping them navigate authentication challenges and ensuring they have the access needed to perform their roles effectively.
  • Prioritise compliance-related activities, ensuring all IAM practices align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

What you bring to the table:

  • University degree/college diploma in related discipline(s) or equivalent work experience, and/or 5+ years in security IT industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of authentication protocols (e.g. SSO/SAML, OAuth/OIDC, SCIM, etc.).
  • Proven experience delivering IAM solutions for engineering organizations.
  • Proven experience with Terraform for automating infrastructure provisioning, particularly in cloud environments.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g. Python, Go, Typescript) for developing IAM automation scripts and integrations.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g. SOX, SOC2, etc.) and their implications for IAM.
  • Passionate problem-solving mindset and strong sense of ownership.
  • Reputation for getting things done.
  • Desire to learn and grow.

Desired qualifications:

  • Industry recognized Information Security designation (e.g. CIAM, CCSP) will be an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD, AWS IAM, Auth0.

This position is open to remote candidates across the U.S. and Canada who have the flexibility to work with our teams distributed across Europe and North America. Most cross-team collaboration happens in the mornings of the Eastern Time Zone.
