In today’s spotlight, meet Gabriella Engstrand, Accelerant’s Head of Distribution in Europe.

Can you describe your role in a couple of sentences?
I’m responsible for developing Accelerant’s business in Europe, building on the momentum Accelerant has in the region.

What did you do before Accelerant?
I worked at Lloyd’s as Head of Broker Distribution and Managing Agent Engagement. Essentially driving market development activities for Lloyd’s in Europe.
What was your first-ever job?
I was a travel guide in Spain.
Where did you grow up?
In the countryside, 2 hours from Stockholm, with my summers spent on the Swedish west coast.
How did you learn about Accelerant?
Accelerant reached out to me through my business network, and that’s how I first learned about the company.
Who inspires you?
I’m constantly inspired by different people – a while ago, I saw a fascinating documentary on Netflix called “14 Peaks – nothing is Impossible” following Nepali mountaineer Nimsdai Purja. I highly recommend it to anyone feeling a little uninspired! I would also recommend listening to Arancha González Laya, former Minister of Foreign affairs in Spain, as she sat down in the podcast “Leading” for a conversation with Rory Stewart and Alastair Campbell. An incredibly inspiring woman in many ways.
What are you most proud of?
Without a doubt, my family.
What do you love to do when you’re not working?
I love outdoor activities like hiking, horseback riding, and sailing, but I’m also a very keen traveler! If forced to sit still inside, you might find me very much enjoying a good jigsaw puzzle.
What’s on your bucket list?
An expedition to Antarctica!
