Digging Deeper: Daniel’s Perspective

What excites you most about the work you do with Accelerant?
What really motivates me is the impact, even if it’s not always front and center. The work we do in Accounts Payable is foundational to keeping things running smoothly. Making sure payments and reimbursements are handled accurately and on time helps build trust across the organization. It might not be flashy, but it’s essential, and I take a lot of pride in doing it well.

What’s a common misconception about your role?
People often think AP is simple: just paying bills and moving on. But it’s far more nuanced than that. It’s about building relationships, being a reliable point of contact, and making sure processes run efficiently across multiple regions and teams. There’s a lot of coordination and care involved. When it’s done right, it supports the entire finance function in a really meaningful way.

How do you stay creative or innovative when you hit a rut?
For me, it starts with curiosity. I try to step back, ask questions, and look at the bigger picture: What’s working? What could be better? Even in a structured function like AP, there’s always room to innovate. That might mean streamlining a process, improving the experience for internal teams, or spotting opportunities to automate routine tasks. It’s about continuously finding ways to improve.

What advice would you give someone exploring career opportunities?
Take the leap. It’s easy to stay in a familiar role or industry, but real growth comes when you challenge yourself. Some of the most rewarding parts of my career have come from stepping into something new, even when it felt uncomfortable at first. If you see a role or opportunity that excites you, go for it. You’ll learn something either way.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“Don’t take it personally. Take note and take care of it.” That’s really stuck with me. It’s helped me stay focused and constructive, even when challenges come up. Everyone has tough days or tough feedback, but if you can keep your cool and respond with action instead of emotion, you’ll keep growing.
