Employee Perspectives: Sarah Wohlford

As our U.S. Associate General Counsel, Insurance Regulatory at Accelerant, Sarah Wohlford helps guide us through a complex and constantly evolving regulatory landscape. Working within the U.S. Regulatory group of our Legal team, she spends her days engaging with regulators, drafting and negotiating contracts, supporting licensing efforts, and providing the kind of legal guidance that helps Accelerant move initiatives forward with confidence.

We caught up with Sarah to learn more about her path, what makes the culture at Accelerant stand out, and why her daughters remain her greatest source of inspiration.

Digging Deeper: Sarah’s Perspective

What makes Accelerant’s culture unique from other places you’ve worked?

The level of collaborative investment really stands out. No matter what someone’s role is, there is a clear sense that everyone is working toward the same goal. People routinely go beyond what might be considered their day-to-day responsibilities to pitch in and help colleagues. That shared commitment creates a strong sense of alignment and support.

What excites you most about the work you do with Accelerant?

It is exciting to be part of an organization made up of experts who are working together to see what is possible. Each week, when new joiners are introduced on the Global All-Hands call, the depth and breadth of experience they bring to Accelerant is striking. Being surrounded by that level of talent and working as a team is both motivating and energizing.

What advice would you give someone exploring career opportunities?

Be adaptable, and be a sponge. Nearly every experience, whether it feels good or bad in the moment, can help you grow. Highlight your strengths, be honest about your weaknesses, and stay open to learning. That mindset will serve you well wherever your path leads.

What is a common misconception about what you do?

Attorneys sometimes have a reputation for getting in the way of progress. At Accelerant, the reality is very different. The legal team works around the clock to support the success of our colleagues and our Partners. The goal is to help the business move forward, not to stand in the way of it.
