The Solution

Rednil (which is the family’s last name spelled backwards) was born out of a family legacy in specialty insurance. Cameron, the second-generation leader, took over the business in 2017 and has since quadrupled its size, growing revenue from $850K to $4.5 million. Their vertically integrated model—combining underwriting, distribution, and claims expertise—has allowed them to dominate niche markets while maintaining underwriting discipline.

For Rednil, insurance is more than just a business—it’s about advocating for small business owners who often lack the resources to navigate complex insurance landscapes. Whether bowling center proprietors or pickleball club operators, they take pride in fighting for its clients.

Cameron explains, “We focus on very small slices of the small business community, but we aim to excel in those segments. Our model has always been vertically integrated, which is critical to our success.”

By focusing on underwriting profitability and leveraging data-driven insights, WBPI has achieved average loss ratios of around 40%, with some years as low as 32%. Rednil’s partnership with Accelerant began in 2022. Cameron recalls: “I called Joe Zuk, with whom I had an existing relationship, and he connected me with Accelerant. They delivered on their promise to help establish a program in under 90 days—something unheard of in the industry.”

Accelerant’s collaborative model and open-minded approach have been a game-changer. Cameron highlights an example: “We pitched them on axe throwing, and they were willing to listen. They said, ‘Let’s hear your argument.’ That’s not typical in this industry. And guess what? We haven’t had a single claim on that risk.”

Rednil has benefited from Accelerant’s digital platform, which aggregates and visualizes data in ways that manual processes never could. Cameron notes: “The platform is fantastic for combining data streams and showing me what’s really going on. It’s the first partnership I’ve had that allows me to visualize and aggregate data so effectively.”

Additionally, Rednil utilizes Accelerant’s Member Services to connect them to vendors, including InsCipher, to streamline regulatory compliance and reduce friction costs. Cameron adds: “We use InsCipher and take advantage of the pricing Accelerant negotiates for us. It’s been a huge help in simplifying our processes and improving efficiency.”

Looking Ahead

With a strong foundation and a clear vision, WBPI & PIP are poised for continued growth. Their goals include scaling the pickleball program to match the size of their bowling business and exploring a third niche market. Cameron envisions growing revenue to $45 million and expanding the team to 60 employees while maintaining a close-knit, service-driven culture.

“I want the company to be really good at what it does, and I want the team to be big enough to get things done but small enough to still have a relationship with everybody,” he says.
