Employee Perspective Questions

Name:  Jake Morin

Title:  Senior Member Relationship Director

Location:   Roxbury, NJ

Can you describe your role in a couple sentences?

I help manage various platforms for our Members (MGU distribution partners).  This can encompass onboarding, product/platform expansions, and navigating the ever changing world of litigiousness/liability.

How does your work impact people’s [ financial ] lives?

My roles helps MGU’s take control of their platforms and operate in a way that the typical insurance carrier has never allowed them to operate.  This provides more control and freedom to help build a proprietary product, which in return helps the MGU take a stronger control of their financial freedom.

Why would someone want to be an Accelerant Member?

Our partnership helps all of our Members stay in control of their business.  All too many times MGU’s have great ideas, great books of business, than the carrier relationship gets involved and morphs the MGU’s book into something it isn’t or limits it in silly ways.  Accelerant is also at the forefront of providing solutions for our Members, we hear the term “Hybrid Carrier”…we are the definition of Hybrid Carrier.

Share a success story after a Member joined Accelerant? (what problem did they have and what opportunity did Accelerant provide. In other words, pain point > solution)

I have a Member I am on boarding right now that is a perfect example for this.  This MGU has had a quality book of business for over 25 years, operating within the same niche and being developed with the same distribution for that time period.  Due to lack of capacity or available markets they were forced to utilize another MGU to obtain paper.  After the deal was done and our Member was growing the other MGU started taking control of their book and cut revenue.  Accelerant was able to see the value within the Member’s approach to the business, and believed in their ability to grow profitability within their space.  Within a few weeks Accelerant was able to execute and NDA, analyze historical data as well as process and approve UW items, and are now in a situation to move forward.  Accelerant provided the Member their first and only unique platform with better capabilities then they ever had, which will fuel growth.

Share a time a Member Service success story.

We have a member that is truly new age and tech fueled, perfect for our platform.  They have figured out a way to offer Surety bonds in a way which has never been done before; tech enabled and speed.  We not only believed within this approach and idea, we also invested in them to help get their idea in place.  The platform is running now, is getting ready to make a large jump into the market, and Accelerant is a large part of it.
