Description

As a Senior Actuary at Accelerant, you will join the UK/EU Actuarial Pricing Team, dedicated to ensuring the profitability of the MGAs we work with and providing meaningful data-driven insights. You will evaluate new MGA opportunities, as well as provide actuarial support for a panel of current MGA Members. You will work closely with the Underwriting, Distribution, Claims, and Technology teams. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled actuary who is passionate about working with data, technically proficient, curious about understanding new insurance products (predominantly P&C and Professional lines), and a clear communicator.

We are a fully remote company. If you want to work with smart and talented coworkers who will challenge and support you in a fast-paced environment, then this might be the opportunity for you!

How you will spend your time

  • Evaluate and price new MGA opportunities to ensure profitability targets will be achieved. Develop rate level and rating algorithm changes needed to achieve profitability.
  • Work closely with a panel of existing Member MGAs to ensure continued profitability and address any actuarial support needed.
  • Think creatively about how the actuarial function can better serve our Member MGAs at scale.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks, providing proactive recommendations.
  • Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively across Underwriting, Distribution, Claims, and Technology teams.

You will be successful if you have

  • Associate/Fellow IFOA.
  • 5-10 years P&C actuarial experience; commercial lines pricing experience is preferable but personal lines backgrounds will be considered.
  • Exposure to a wide variety of P&C commercial lines insurance products.
  • Strong analytical and modelling skills, with proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., Python, R, Excel).
  • Communicate and collaborate well with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • An eagerness to learn and collaborate with others, learn quickly, and work with little supervision.

You will thrive if you are

  • A self-motivated, results-driven individual with a passion for insurance, data modelling, and analytics.
  • An agent for positive change.
  • A problem solver that enjoys challenges.
  • Great at working with others to teach, share, and grow as part of a team.
